Bosch to pay $36M to US over unauthorized shipments to Huawei

German conglomerate Robert Bosch GmbH agreed to pay $36.18 million in civil penalties to the U.S. and an additional $11.43 million in disgorgement for unauthorized shipments of $72.4 million worth of sensors and software to blacklisted Huawei Technologies between 2020 and 2024. Bosch voluntarily disclosed the violations, hired 66 compliance staff, and avoided criminal charges under the DOJ’s Corporate Enforcement Policy. The case underscores the broad reach of U.S. export controls even for non-American firms.
