Microsoft follows Anthropic and OpenAI into the AI super app race with overhauled Copilot and AutoPilot agents
Microsoft plans to launch an updated Copilot app in August, merging its consumer and enterprise versions and adding AI coding tools plus background agents called AutoPilot for tasks like scheduling. Executive Vice President Jacob Andreou said the focus is on practical outcomes, dropping features like Copilot Podcasts and Labs. The move follows similar efforts by Anthropic and OpenAI to create AI "super apps" while Microsoft also launched a new unit to embed AI directly into business workflows.
