IHI explores Kuva hyperspectral satellites for Japan’s multi-sensor constellation

IHI is considering adding Kuva Space's hyperspectral satellites to its planned 100-strong Earth observation constellation. The companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore building and operating Kuva's Hyperfield-2 satellites in Japan. IHI may place orders for the satellites in 2027, when Kuva plans to demonstrate the technology in orbit.
