MDA Space buys French Earth data analytics company CLS

Canadian MDA Space will acquire 70% of French Earth data analytics firm CLS for €567 million ($648 million), retaining CNES’s 30% stake, with the deal expected to close by early 2025. The acquisition expands MDA Space’s AI-driven Earth observation analytics and global customer base beyond 14,000. It follows MDA’s June $620 million purchase of Blue Canyon Technologies, part of a broader wave of space-sector M&A including Amazon’s $11 billion Globalstar deal and Rocket Lab’s $8 billion Iridium acquisition.
